PhD Candidate

I am Pablo, a PhD candidate in Computer Vision at the University of Santiago de Compostela (USC) and a researcher at the Research Center on Intelligent Technologies (CiTIUS). My work explores the frontiers of visual recognition under minimal supervision, with a focus on object detection beyond closed-set assumptions. This includes open-vocabulary models, few-shot generalization, and category-free inference. Broadly, I aim to develop scalable, adaptable perception systems that bring computer vision closer to the richness and flexibility of human perception.

In 2024–2025, I was a visiting PhD student at the University of Trento (Italy) with the Multimedia and Human Understanding Group (MHUG).

I am funded by the FPU Predoctoral Fellowship, one of the most competitive research grants awarded by the Spanish Ministry of Universities.

My work has been published in leading venues such as ICCV.
